The real life Combat Colin!

It was May, 1990. Combat Colin was going strong in the pages of TRANSFORMERS and his cast of villains was growing, many of which were actually based on real people, all friends of Lew Stringer's. The Amazing Dave was top real-life magician David Jones; Headline Howard was SUNDAY SPORT sub-editor Howard Foy; Skydriver was ex-bus driver Phil Kendrick; Moptop was mop-topped Beatle fan Dave Healey...and so on.

So it came to pass that, whilst on holiday in a secret village location in North Wales, this gathering of Combat Colin fanboys and fangals  had a fancy dress contest...to dress up as each other. So, Headline Howard came as Julie Giggly, Julie Giggly came as The Amazing Dave, Dave came as DJ Yampy...and so on.

Well, we were young(ish) and daft, and we all had a great laugh. Happy days, and never a dull moment.
